# Connecting to WiFi

> Connect your RADR to WiFi to enable over-the-air updates and new device support

WiFi connectivity allows your Research And Desire wireless Remote (RADR) to receive updates wirelessly, including new device support and bug fixes. This guide walks you through the simple setup process.

## Why Connect to WiFi?

Connecting your RADR to WiFi enables:

* **Over-the-air updates** — Get the latest firmware and features without cables
* **New device support** — Receive updates that add compatibility with new Bluetooth devices
* **Bug fixes** — Stay up to date with the latest improvements

<Info>
  WiFi is optional for basic use. RADR controls devices entirely over Bluetooth, so you can use it without WiFi. However, we recommend connecting to receive updates.
</Info>

## Before You Start

Make sure you have:

* Your home WiFi network name and password
* A phone or tablet to scan the QR code (or you can connect manually)
* Your RADR charged and powered on

<Warning>
  RADR only supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks. If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, make sure to connect to the 2.4GHz network.
