# Quick Start

> Get started with your Chastity Lockbox in minutes—connect to Wi‑Fi, pair with the dashboard, start your first lock, and learn the essentials.

Welcome to Chastity Lockbox! The Lockbox is a smart key‑holding device designed for self‑keyholding and remote play with a partner—from anywhere in the world.

## Prerequisites :)

* A USB‑C cable that supports data transfer (not just charging)
* Have access to a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network (5 GHz is not supported)

## Turning on your Lockbox

    Connect your Lockbox to a power source using the included USB‑C cable. A lightning bolt appears on the battery icon when charging.

    <Tip>
      For best results, use a USB port on your computer or a standard phone charger (5V). Leave the device charging for at least 30 minutes before first use.

    Press the **Enter/Lock** button (right side) to wake the device. The screen should illuminate and display the main menu or startup screen.

      New devices may ship in deep sleep mode. If the screen doesn't turn on immediately, keep the device plugged in and try pressing the Enter button again after a few minutes of charging.

    You should see the Lockbox startup screen showing the firmware version, followed by the main menu with options like Lock, Lock Forever, Settings, and Sleep.

## Set up Wi‑Fi

  If you’re using **automatic Bluetooth pairing** (Chrome or Edge), you can skip this step — WiFi is configured for you during pairing.

For manual pairing, connect your Lockbox to WiFi first:

    When the QR code appears on the Lockbox screen, scan it to open the setup page on your phone.

    Select your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network and enter the password to connect.

      The Lockbox requires a 2.4 GHz connection. 5 GHz networks aren’t supported.

      Look for a green dot next to the Wi‑Fi icon on the Lockbox display to confirm you’re online.

## Pair with your dashboard account

Pairing lets you control locks remotely, assign a keyholder, and use advanced features.

**The fastest way to pair is via Bluetooth** (Chrome or Edge only). It links your account and configures WiFi in one step.

    Go to **Settings → Devices** and click **Pair Lockbox**.

    * **Automatic tab** (recommended): Click **Scan for Lockbox**, select your device from the browser picker, and follow the prompts. Works in Chrome and Edge.
    * **Enter Code tab**: Enter the six-digit code shown on your Lockbox screen under **Settings → Pairing**. Works in any browser.

  <Step title="Verify the device appears in your dashboard">
    You should see your Lockbox listed and ready to control.

      From the Chastity Lockbox section in the dashboard, confirm the device shows as Online.

## Start your first lock

You can start a lock on‑device or from the dashboard.

## Lock modes

### Lock (offline capable)

Lock immediately for a fixed duration—even without Wi‑Fi.

### Lock Forever (online only)

Defers all unlock decisions to your dashboard rules and keyholder. Only your online settings or your keyholder can release the lock.

  Be careful—if you enable Lock Forever without a plan, you may be unable to unlock without your keyholder.

### Sleep mode

Use Sleep to conserve power when running on battery. The timer continues while offline. For details on automatic vs. deep sleep, see <a href="/lkbx/device-states/sleep-mode">Sleep mode</a>

## Unlocking

The device unlocks only when one of the following is true:

* The timer expires
* Your keyholder unlocks it from the dashboard

<Tip>
  Keyholders can unlock at any time regardless of the remaining timer.
</Tip>

## Emergency unlocking

### Software Emergency Unlock

If you need urgent access, press and hold the enter/lock button to open the menu, then select Emergency Unlock and confirm.

### Hardware Emergency Unlock (last resort)

If the device fails or has no power, you can mechanically open it via the backplate access port.

  This method is destructive and requires replacing the back cover. Only use it if software emergency unlock isn’t available.

## Troubleshooting

### Wi‑Fi connection

* Move closer to your router during setup
* Confirm your network is 2.4 GHz
* Test your password on another device

### Restarting the device

* Use the menu: Settings → Restart Device
* Hard reset (for unresponsive devices): Press and hold the Enter/Lock button for 10 seconds

## Safety reminders

  * Always maintain a backup release method
  * Keep your Lockbox charged when possible for the most reliable experience
