Welcome to Chastity Lockbox! The Lockbox is a smart key‑holding device designed for self‑keyholding and remote play with a partner—from anywhere in the world.
For the best experience, use the online dashboard to configure locks, invite keyholders, and manage sessions. You can still lock and track time offline directly on the device.

Prerequisites

  • A USB‑C cable that supports data transfer (not just charging)
  • Have access to a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network (5 GHz is not supported)
  • Optional: Create your dashboard account at dashboard.researchanddesire.com

Turning on your Lockbox

1

Charge your Lockbox

Connect your Lockbox to a power source using the included USB‑C cable. A lightning bolt appears on the battery icon when charging.
For best results, use a USB port on your computer or a standard phone charger (5V). Leave the device charging for at least 30 minutes before first use.
2

Wake the device

Press the Enter/Lock button (right side) to wake the device. The screen should illuminate and display the main menu or startup screen.
New devices may ship in deep sleep mode. If the screen doesn’t turn on immediately, keep the device plugged in and try pressing the Enter button again after a few minutes of charging.
3

Verify the device is working

You should see the Lockbox startup screen showing the firmware version, followed by the main menu with options like Lock, Lock Forever, Settings, and Sleep.
If you see the main menu, your Lockbox is ready for Wi‑Fi setup.
If your device doesn’t turn on after charging for 30 minutes, see the troubleshooting guide for next steps.

Set up Wi‑Fi

1

Open Wi‑Fi setup on the device

Use the device menu to navigate to Settings → Wi‑Fi Settings.
2

Scan the QR code with your phone

When the QR code appears on the Lockbox screen, scan it to open the setup page on your phone.
3

Choose your network and enter the password

Select your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network and enter the password to connect.
The Lockbox requires a 2.4 GHz connection. 5 GHz networks aren’t supported.
Look for a green dot next to the Wi‑Fi icon on the Lockbox display to confirm you’re online.
If you prefer a deeper walkthrough, see Step 1: Connect to Wi‑Fi.

Pair with your dashboard account

Pairing lets you control locks remotely, assign a keyholder, and use advanced features.
1

Sign in or register

Open the dashboard and sign in. If you don’t have an account yet, create one at dashboard.researchanddesire.com.
2

Start the pairing flow

In the dashboard, go to Settings → Devices and follow the prompts to pair your Lockbox to your account.
You’ll enter the device details shown on your Lockbox screen and confirm.
3

Verify the device appears in your dashboard

You should see your Lockbox listed and ready to control.
From the Chastity Lockbox section in the dashboard, confirm the device shows as Online.

Start your first lock

You can start a lock on‑device or from the dashboard.
1

From the device (works offline)

Choose Lock on the device, set the duration, and confirm. The timer starts immediately.
2

From the dashboard (recommended)

Use the Create Lock flow in the Chastity Lockbox section to set duration, optional breaks, and keyholder rules. See How to start a lock from the dashboard.
3

Optionally hide the remaining time

For extra challenge, you can hide remaining time across the device and dashboard. Learn how in Hiding the remaining time.

Lock modes

Lock (offline capable)

Lock immediately for a fixed duration—even without Wi‑Fi.

Lock Forever (online only)

Defers all unlock decisions to your dashboard rules and keyholder. Only your online settings or your keyholder can release the lock.
Be careful—if you enable Lock Forever without a plan, you may be unable to unlock without your keyholder.

Sleep mode

Use Sleep to conserve power when running on battery. The timer continues while offline. For details on automatic vs. deep sleep, see Sleep mode.

Unlocking

The device unlocks only when one of the following is true:
  • The timer expires
  • Your keyholder unlocks it from the dashboard
Keyholders can unlock at any time regardless of the remaining timer.

Emergency unlocking

Software Emergency Unlock

If you need urgent access, press and hold the enter/lock button to open the menu, then select Emergency Unlock and confirm.
Using Emergency Unlock ends the current session immediately. Additional consequences and dashboard actions may apply; see the latest guidance on Emergency Unlock.

Hardware Emergency Unlock (last resort)

If the device fails or has no power, you can mechanically open it via the backplate access port.
This method is destructive and requires replacing the back cover. Only use it if software emergency unlock isn’t available.
