Keeping your Research And Desire wireless Remote (RADR) updated ensures you have the latest features, bug fixes, and support for new Bluetooth devices. Updates are quick and easy — just a few taps from the Settings menu.

Why Update?

Updates bring:
  • New device support — Control more Bluetooth devices as we add compatibility
  • Bug fixes — Improvements to stability and performance
  • New features — Additional patterns, controls, and capabilities
Want to control Buttplug.io devices? You’ll need to update to the latest version. RADR’s device support library is updated regularly to include new Bluetooth toys and accessories.

Before You Update

1

Connect to WiFi

Updates are downloaded over WiFi. If you haven’t connected your RADR to WiFi yet, do that first.

Connecting to WiFi

Follow our WiFi setup guide.
2

Charge your RADR

Make sure your RADR has sufficient battery. We recommend at least 50% charge before updating.
Don’t turn off your RADR during an update. If the update is interrupted, you may need to use the Web Flasher to recover.

How to Update

1

Open Settings

From the main menu, use the right knob to scroll to Settings and press the right button to select it.
2

Select Update Device

In the Settings menu, scroll to Update Device and select it.
3

Wait for the Update

RADR will:
  1. Check for available updates
  2. Download new firmware and device support files
  3. Install the updates
  4. Restart automatically
This usually takes 1-2 minutes depending on your WiFi speed.
4

Done!

After restarting, your RADR is running the latest version with all the newest device support.

What Gets Updated

When you update your RADR, two things are refreshed:
ComponentWhat It Does
FirmwareThe core software that runs your RADR — includes new features and bug fixes
Device LibraryThe list of supported Bluetooth devices — adds compatibility with new toys
The device library is updated separately from the firmware, so you can get support for new Bluetooth devices without waiting for a full firmware release.

Having Trouble?

If the over-the-air update doesn’t work, you can update manually using the Web Flasher.

Using the Web Flasher

The Web Flasher lets you update your RADR directly from your computer using a USB-C cable. This is useful if:
  • WiFi updates aren’t working
  • You want to install a specific firmware version
  • Your RADR isn’t responding normally

Web Flasher
