Your Global Rank represents your position among all active players in the system. Unlike your League rank, which resets weekly based on individual match performance, your Global Rank reflects your overall skill level and consistency over time.

How the ranking system works

TrueSkill-based ratings

Global Rank uses a TrueSkill-based rating system. Before each week, the system calculates your probability of winning based on your current rank and your opponents.
  • Outperform expectations — Your rank improves significantly
  • Perform as expected — Your rank changes slightly
  • Underperform — Your rank may decrease
The key to climbing the ranks is surprising the system by consistently performing better than expected.

Real-world examples

The underdog story If you’re Rank #2000 and beat someone ranked #1, the system considers that a major upset. Your rank jumps significantly because you’ve demonstrated skill far beyond what the system predicted. The expected win If you’re Rank #1 and beat players ranked around #2000, your rank still increases—but only slightly. The system already expected you to win, so the adjustment is smaller.

Weekly rank updates

Your Global Rank recalculates every Monday when weekly matches conclude. The system analyzes:
  • Actual vs. expected performance — How you performed relative to your rank and opponents
  • Opponent strength — Beating strong players improves your rank more than beating weaker ones
  • Consistency — Consistent performers receive more stable, reliable rankings

Understanding your rank number

Your Global Rank is a single number representing your skill level. Lower numbers are better—Rank #1 is the top player, and Rank #100 is better than Rank #500.

Why your rank can change unexpectedly

When you’re new, your rank might increase even after a loss. The system is still learning your true skill level and becomes more confident as you play more matches.
If you perform much better than expected against highly-ranked players, your rank can improve significantly—even if you don’t win your match overall.
Players who perform consistently well over multiple weeks have more stable ranks than those with unpredictable results.
