Devices such as the Deep Throat Trainer and Chastity Lockbox are sometimes shared between users—often in dynamics involving a top and a bottom. When multiple people have accessed the same device, ownership disputes can occur. This policy explains how we determine ownership and how to resolve disputes quickly and safely.
This policy governs device pairing and control within the Research and Desire Dashboard. It does not address returns, refunds, or warranty claims.

Definitions

  • Owner: The account we recognize as having ultimate control over pairing and unpairing for a device.
  • Unpair: The action of removing a device’s association with an account in the Dashboard. Once unpaired, any account can pair the device.
Unpairing relinquishes ownership. Only unpair your device if you are prepared to give up control of it permanently.

Primary ownership

The primary owner of a device is the individual who completed the purchase.
1

Verify a purchase to claim ownership

If we can verify a purchase through a Shopify order or internal store records and the purchaser’s email matches the one used to contact support, we designate that purchaser as the owner.
To speed up verification, contact support from the purchase email and include your order number if available.
2

Exercise owner rights

The verified owner can request the device be unpaired from any account. No justification is required.
After unpairing, the device is free to be paired by any account. Pairing it to a new account transfers ownership to that account.

Ownership without a purchase record

If no purchase record can be verified, ownership is determined by device usage history.
1

Identify initial owner by usage

The first account to log an event from the device (for example, pairing, usage, or commands) is treated as the initial owner.
2

Request unpairing if needed

That account holder may request the device be unpaired from any account at any time, for any reason. Support will process the unpairing immediately after verification of the requesting account.

Transferring ownership

Ownership can transfer in two ways.

1) Voluntary unpairing by the owner

  • When the current owner unpairs the device from their account, this is an intentional release of ownership.
  • The next account to pair the device becomes the new owner.
Unpairing is irreversible from a policy standpoint. Once another user pairs the device, ownership transfers to that user.
When ownership history is unclear, Research and Desire assigns ownership to the original purchaser.

2) Transfer of ownership by Research and Desire

If a device remains paired to the original purchaser’s account and they have not unpaired it, the requesting user can ask us to facilitate a transfer.
1

We contact the purchaser

We email the purchaser at the address on the original order.
2

30-day response window

The purchaser has 30 days to respond to the request.
3

Outcome

  • If the purchaser approves, we transfer ownership to the requesting user.
  • If the purchaser declines, we do not transfer the device.
  • If the purchaser does not respond within 30 days, we consider them non-responsive and transfer the device to the requesting user.
This process respects the rights of original purchasers while providing a clear path forward for active users in unresolved disputes.

Important notes

Reinstalling or flashing firmware does not unpair a device. Pairing status persists through firmware reinstalls. If you need to change ownership, request an unpairing rather than attempting a firmware reset. See: How to flash your Chastity Lockbox
If you no longer have access to the purchase email, contact support from the email on your Dashboard account and include any details you have (order number, approximate purchase date, shipping name). Additional verification may be required.

Summary of ownership flows

  • The purchaser is the owner
  • They can request unpairing at any time
  • The first account to log an event becomes the owner
  • They can request unpairing at any time
  • Unpairing forfeits ownership
  • The next account to pair becomes the new owner
  • If history is unclear, R+D assigns the purchaser as owner
  • R+D contacts the original purchaser
  • If they approve or fail to respond within 30 days, the transfer proceeds
  • If they decline, the transfer is denied
