The Break feature allows you to temporarily access your key for essential hygiene and health maintenance during extended lock periods. Your Keyholder configures break frequency and duration through their online dashboard.

Accessing the break feature

To start a break, enter the lock menu by holding down the right button while your device is locked.
The countdown timer starts immediately when you activate a break. Make sure you’re ready to complete all necessary actions before initiating.

Using your break time

Activate the break

Select the Break option from the lock menu. The countdown timer begins immediately based on your Keyholder’s configured duration (for example, 15 minutes every 2 days).

Retrieve your key and unlock

Open the Lockbox, retrieve your key, and unlock your device.

Complete hygiene maintenance

Attend to all necessary hygiene and health needs within the allotted time.

Re-lock and return the key

Re-lock your device and return the key to the Lockbox before the timer expires.
The break ends automatically when you re-lock the device or when the timer runs out—whichever happens first.

Penalties for overdue locks

If you fail to re-lock before the break timer expires, consequences depend on your account settings:
  • Your missed lock time is shared publicly
  • The community can vote on your lock conditions

Establish a consistent routine for your breaks to maximize efficiency and avoid rushing.
  • Plan ahead — Know exactly what you need to accomplish before starting the timer
  • Build in buffer time — Don’t cut it close; aim to finish with time to spare
  • Communicate proactively — Contact your Keyholder if you anticipate issues with scheduled breaks
The break feature exists to support your health and safety. Use it responsibly while respecting the boundaries set by your Keyholder.
