Using the software emergency unlock

If you need immediate access to your key while your device is locked, you can use the software emergency unlock feature.

Access the menu

Navigate to the menu on your locked device.

Find the emergency unlock option

Scroll through the menu to locate the Emergency Unlock button.

Review the confirmation

A screen displays additional information and gives you the option to cancel before proceeding.

Complete the unlock

Confirm your choice to instantly gain access to your key.
Completing an emergency unlock triggers a 24-hour lockout period during which your device cannot be used. This prevents misuse of the feature. Your keyholder can clear this restriction by abandoning the active session or sending new settings through the dashboard.

If the software unlock is unavailable

The software emergency unlock may be disabled by your keyholder for the active session. If you cannot access this option, use the hardware emergency unlock instead.
Always familiarize yourself with the hardware emergency unlock procedure before you need it. This ensures you have a backup option available in any situation.
