When setting up device sharing you can choose an access type on your account, this determines if you're allowing other users to access your device, or if they're permitted to access your devices.
AJ describes what Access Types mean in the DashboardVideo Transcription
0:00 Hey, let's discuss access type. When I'm creating the new invitation to share devices with my partners, by clicking this button, create invitation, I will, of course, be able to search for a partner as we've seen before.
0:12 And below I'll be able to choose one of two options for access type. First is, give them access to my devices, and the second is, request access to their devices.
0:22 What do these mean? The first option means that I will be the bottom. This means that I have devices on my account, and I want somebody else to control them.
0:32 The second option means that I will be the top. They have a device on their account that they'll be using, and I will be managing settings for it.
0:42 So, if you have devices, on your account, and you would like to be the bottom in a relationship, then you would choose give them access to my devices.
0:52 If you are a top, and you would like to control somebody who has devices, you would like to request access to their devices.
1:00 Note, there's a little bit of confusion today in this dashboard setup. We're going to be rewriting this, but if you are a top who has devices on their account, you may want to repair that device onto your bottom's account.
1:14 All right, that's it for now. Thank you.
